Anna is a PhD candidate in cultural anthropology at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her research interests broadly include the anthropology of reproduction, medical anthropology, and pharmaceutical and data politics. Prior to her graduate career, Anna worked professionally in healthcare and research settings, including perinatal healthcare practices and clinical research for oncology trials. Her MA research focused on how pregnant people made decisions about COVID-19 vaccination during the pandemic.
Anna is currently writing her dissertation, which draws from multi-year ethnographic research to explore how pregnant people and certified nurse-midwives mediate evolving fractures across the U.S. healthcare system. By engaging theoretical perspectives from feminist anthropology and political economy, her dissertation highlights the everyday labor sustaining prenatal care in the U.S. Her advisor is Donna Goldstein.
