William (Bill) Hoff is a visiting scholar at the ATLAS Institute. He is an associate emeritus professor at the Colorado School of Mines, where he spent over 25 years conducting funded research in computer vision and augmented reality. His focus is on developing AR applications that empower people in practical, real-world contexts, such as equipment maintenance and inspection, task guidance, and immersive training. Most recently he was a Research Scientist at Diamond Age Technology (2022–2025), building digital twins from sensor data for immersive training applications, and before that a Lead Software Engineer at Magic Leap (2021–2022), working on 3D world reconstruction and large-scale digital twin visualization for the Magic Leap 2 headset.
