Overall Description of Responsibility or Nature of Work
This position reports directly to Patricia Ernst, PhD, Professor of Pediatrics Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplantation, and is responsible for PRA position that involves lab managing, maintaining a genetically engineered mouse colony, performing tissue culture and biochemical/molecular biology experiments in support of overall laboratory goals and students and fellows’ projects.
Specific Position Duties with Percentages of Time

Maintain research mouse colony
- Set up mouse matings
- Tag/tail/genotype progeny
- Address any problem issues with mouse colony
- Interact with animal facility staff
- Maintain on-line and printed records of animals in colony
- Order animals for lab members

Order reagents and equipment and maintain laboratory organization
- Use University system to order reagents and supplies as needed
- Maintain laboratory stocks and equipment and be responsible for coordinating repairs when needed
- Maintain lab records of stocks, help with lab clean-up events
- Supervise new trainees, rotation students, undergraduates in lab jobs and experimental endeavors

Perform experiments to support research goals of the group
- Perform experiments independently
- Perform experiments with other students, postdocs to contribute to publications and overall productivity of the group
- Maintain accurate and current laboratory notebook including all experimental details
- Write-up and present experiments in small group meetings
