It’s particularly good for those who need a boost, including first year students! Currently, there are only four enrollees. The course will continue regardless, but it would be good to give more students an opportunity to enroll. This course is particularly convenient for international students who may want to drop one of their current courses, but need to stay at or above 12 credits to satisfy student visa requirements. Be sure to remind students that there is an additional charge for Continuing Education courses.

Course Description:

This course is designed for undergraduate students for whom English is an additional language, this course develops academic English skills for university-level work. Students sharpen English accuracy through academic reading, writing, speaking, and listening practice. They learn to express ideas more clearly, both orally and in writing, while engaging critically in class discussions, and giving presentations, including on a researched topic related to their major. Students improve grammatical accuracy, develop academic vocabulary, and expand critical thinking skills and metacognitive strategies. This course does not count toward the Linguistics major or minor.
