Sponsor a Design Project
The BME Industry Capstone Program brings together 蜜桃传媒破解版下载 engineering students and professionals to engage in real-world, interdisciplinary engineering problems.听 Sponsors share projects from their organizations and provide support to teams of talented, self-directed students who will design and build innovative solutions.
How it works
Innovation 鈥 Potential sponsors propose a project for review by the BME Program
Sponsorship 鈥 Organizations commit financially to cover project costs and program fee
Team matching 鈥 Students are matched to an approved project
Mentorship 鈥 Technical mentor meets with the team weekly for project duration (September-April)
Problem-solving 鈥 Teams embark on a full-scale design process with help from technical and faculty mentor

What Makes a Good Proposal
- Projects should have a level of complexity that is compatible with a 5-person team of self-directed (but coached) BME seniors, working on average 15 hours per week each, for two semesters.
- Projects should provide design challenges that allow students to explore various design solutions and make design choices based on sound engineering reasoning.
- Projects should have a clear purpose with specific functional objectives that are appropriate for entry-level engineers in their first or second year on the job.
- Projects that reflect lower priority real-world problems faced by your organization, such as, exploratory, or proof-of-concept projects can be quite successful.
- Sponsors should take into consideration听that the primary purpose of the Senior Design curriculum is educational and that projects are to provide undergraduate student teams with a real-life experience of delivering a tested and functional prototype with听documentation while gaining understanding of the development process听in response to the Sponsor project definition.听
STEP 1
Jan-May
Solicit project proposals from organizations
STEP 2
June 30th
Project Proposals Due 鈥 Submit a two-page proposal outlining the pertinent details of your project.听
STEP 3
Early September
Project Proposal Presentations 鈥 Proposals shared with students, showcasing project requirements and scope.听 This information helps determine student compatibility and team composition. Teams then submit project proposals to sponsors for review and ranks听the听teams.
STEP 4
Mid-September
Teams and sponsors are paired. Sponsors are provided with a departmental program overview.听 Project scope is refined and project kicks off.听
STEP 5
September-April
Projects in Progress 鈥 Weekly team meetings between student teams and mentors as project design and build processes develop throughout the fall and spring semesters.听 Attend major presentations and provide feedback, such as: Spec & Planning, PDR, CDR and End of Term. Read and provide feedback on technical reports.
STEP 6
April
Student Showcase 鈥 The program culminates at the CU Engineering听Design Expo听where student teams present their projects, explain their work, answer questions, and demonstrate working prototypes
