Following a comprehensive national search, the Leeds School of Business is pleased to announce the Burridge Center for Finance’s next executive director, Michael Steinberg, CFA.

With more than 30 years of experience across the investment industry, Michael Steinberg brings a wealth of knowledge to this leadership position. After graduating with degrees in mathematics and economics from the University of Colorado Boulder, he began his career as an actuary in New York City and Washington, D.C., before earning his MBA from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.��

Over the course of his career, he has served in a wide range of roles, including portfolio manager, director of research, COO, CFO, CCO, chief risk officer, and investor relations. Most recently, he served as managing director of business development at Deer Park Road Management Company. He is also a CFA charterholder.

“Michael sits naturally at the intersection of practice and academia,” said Shaun Davies, faculty director of the Burridge Center for Finance and associate professor of finance. “He has spent his career at firms that have incorporated academic research into their investment strategies, has regularly written white papers and investor letters, and has contributed a chapter to a finance textbook. That combination of industry experience, intellectual curiosity and connection to CU makes him a particularly exciting fit for the Burridge Center.”

Since 1997, the Burridge Center for Finance has worked to enhance and elevate finance at the Leeds School of Business, building superior innovation and talent through student, alumni, industry and partner networks.
