This workshop provides a user’s guide to Difference-in-Differences and related methodologies used by empirical social scientists. We’ll learn to think critically about research that uses Diff-in-Diff and to decide whether it makes sense for your research project.Ìý

The first week will introduce the method and its key assumptions and implementation details.Ìý

The second week will briefly discuss extensions, including event studies, placebos, triple-differences, and synthetic control/diff-in-diff methods.Ìý

The third week will give a high-level overview of staggered adoption methods, including why Two Way Fixed Effects may give biased estimates and what alternatives are available to researchers.
