Proficiency Exam

If you are proficient in a language other than English,Ìýyou might be able to "test out" of the language requirement for a fee. PleaseÌýspeak with your academic advisor about the possibility of taking a proficiency assessmentÌýfor your language; this option will depend on your major and college. If you are ready to pursue a proficiency exam, your options are as follows.

Note that taking a proficiency exam does not grant course credits toward your degree.

Confirm if offers an assessment inÌýyour preferred language.

  • If your language is not listed, contact altec@colorado.edu to schedule an alternative exam.
  • NOTE: if your major (such as International Affairs) requires you to demonstrate proficiency beyond the 3rd semester level, you will also need to emailÌýaltec@colorado.edu to schedule an alternative exam.

Once you have confirmed BYU FLATS offers an assessment in your prefered language, .ÌýUnder “Proctor Informationâ€� select “Autofill Proctor360 as my Proctorâ€�. By doing this, you understand that the exam will be conducted remotely by a remote proctor.Ìý
