This week the Center of Western Civilization, Thought, and PolicyÌý(CWCTP)ÌýisÌý. The first isÌýaÌýtalk byÌý, Professor of Sociology at the University of North Texas.ÌýHe will beÌýspeakingÌýon “Conservatives in Academia: Is There Bias Against Them?â€� Professor Yancey is the author of several books on race, religion, and the academy. Among themÌýareÌý,ÌýÌý(w/ Michael Emerson)ÌýTranscending Racial Barriers: Toward a Mutual Obligations ApproachÌý(Oxford University Press, 2010),Ìý, andÌý.ÌýÌýProfessor Yancey’s talk will be held onÌýSeptember 21, 2016 at 7:15 PMÌýinÌýEaton Humanities 150.Ìý

The next day CWCTP will be hosting aÌýpanelÌýdiscussion,ÌýÌýÌýModerated by CWCTP director,ÌýRobert Pasnau,Ìýthe panel will featureÌýProfessor Yancey,ÌýÌý(ProfessorÌýand Chair ofÌýPolitical Science,ÌýUniversity of Colorado,ÌýColorado Springs) andÌýÌý(Professor and Chair of Political Science,ÌýUniversity of Colorado, Boulder).ÌýÌýProfessor Dunn’s mostÌýrecent book,Ìý, has been praisedÌýbyÌýÌýas “the authoritative treatise, integrating all previous work in an accessible and fair-minded way, and adding in empathy - the rarely heard voices of conservative professors. All academics should read this book, as should anyone who wants to improve the scholarship, prestige, and public funding of the academy."ÌýThe panel will be held onÌýSeptember 22, 2016 at 4:00 PMÌýin theÌýBritish Studies RoomÌýin the Norlin Library.ÌýÌý
