English for Outdoor Sports and Adventure
Students develop English fluency in a fun, high-energy environment designed for the active traveler. We move beyond the traditional classroom to explore the intersection of language, elite athleticism, and mountain culture.
- Interactive Learning: Build your vocabulary through curated readings, dynamic videos, and guest speakers from Colorado's world-renowned outdoor industry.
- Health & Performance: Learn the language of nutrition and fitness, focusing on how athletes fuel for high-altitude adventures.
- Boulder as Your Campus: Students don’t just study—they do. Explore Boulder actively while practicing English in real-world settings.
- Applied Communication: Improve your teamwork and speaking skills through organized games of Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, or Volleyball, and guided Hiking or Cycling excursions.
While studying at the IEC, you are steps away from some of the most iconic landscapes in North America. Students have easy access to Boulder’s famous trail systems and the IEC frequently hosts social meetups to help you explore:
- Mountain Adventures: Take a short walk to Hike Chautauqua, or head out for Mountain Biking, Whitewater Rafting, and Horseback Riding.
The Great Outdoors: Experience the Colorado tradition of Camping, Fishing, and Stargazing under our famously clear night skies.

Beyond the mountains, Boulder’s summer culture is electric. The IEC community participates in and encourages students to attend local favorites:
- Local Traditions: Don't miss Tube to Work Day, the Boulder Farmer’s Market, or a game of Ultimate Frisbee on the grass.
- Music & Arts: Enjoy the Colorado Music Festival, Bands on the Bricks, and the vibrant Colorado Shakespeare Festival.
- World-Class Entertainment: You'll be in close proximity to the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, globally recognized as one of the most beautiful concert venues in the world.
