The Center for the American West is hosting a new graduate student colloquium for students who are doing research related to the North American West.ÌýOur objective is to establish a group where students can meet and gather once a month for ~75 minutes with their fellow scholars, creating an interdisciplinary space to share their work, resources, and interests to a broader graduate campus community. These colloquiums discuss scholarship which is foundational, generative, essential or even problematic in their field(s) with other students who are interested in the same geographic region, broadly construed.Ìý

These pieces include but aren't limited to scholarly articles, book introductions, or chapters--whatever you might like to share and discuss with peers.ÌýThe idea is to generate discussion and dialogue with fellow students about their research, share pieces impacting their work, and draw connections between disciplines and projects. Attendees would have access to a hub (see below) where these materials can be accessed for future use or revisitation. This colloquium would take place monthly at the Center of the American West office in Macky 229.

Our vision and objective for the colloquium is that it is guided and developed by its participants. It's a place for graduate students to lead the way in building an on-campus resource hub and community building cohort where the infrastructure meets their needs as emerging scholars. Our community of graduate students is able to shape the colloquium as it proceeds; so your time, research, and community building is fruitful as possible.
