In fall 2023, Benny Shendo Jr. (OrgMgmt’87) — a proud member of New Mexico’s Jemez Pueblo tribe — began at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ part-time while he concluded his New Mexico state senator duties. In March, he joined CU full-time as its first associate vice chancellor for Native American affairs. In his role, he conducts outreach to tribal governments and visits tribal leadership to talk through opportunities, concerns and how the university can partner with Colorado’s tribal communities and Native and Indigenous people.

I have a picture of my Jeep, and it’s just full of mud — I was way out in Navajo territory after a chapter meeting. In the picture, the mud is grayish brown, and it’s just caked on.
