Mark Zhao is an assistant professor of computer science. His research lies at the intersection of computer systems and machine learning. He builds systems for training and deploying large-scale ML models, with a focus on improving the scalability, efficiency and security of end-to-end ML pipelines. Mark completed his PhD in electrical engineering at Stanford University, advised by Christos Kozyrakis. He was also a visiting researcher in the FAIR and infrastructure teams at Meta, where he built data systems for Meta’s ML training pipelines. He received his BS in electrical and computer engineering from Cornell University, where he worked with Ed Suh.
