Disability Services Portal Transition

Disability Services is continuing the transition to AIM, our student-facing accommodation management system. As we complete this transition, you may notice updates to our website and processes. Thank you for your patience during this period.

Please use AIM for your accommodation-related needs. If you have questions or need assistance during this transition, please contact your Access Coordinator or the Disability Services front office at dsinfo@colorado.eduÌý(303-492-8671). Please do not attempt to log in to the previous accommodation management system, Accommodate Portal.

With AIM, students can:

  • Manage accommodation letters
  • Submit accommodation requests
  • Request appointments with their Access Coordinator after completing the registration process
  • Access accommodation-related services and resources

Accessible Information Management (AIM)

Disability Services is excited to introduce our new data management system, Accessible Information Management (AIM), to help manage accommodation requests and implementation. AIM is a data management system intended to ease and streamline accommodation management for students, staff, and faculty. Here is everything you need to know about the new system.Ìý

How Do I Get Started?

AIM will automatically generate accommodation letters for students once they have been approved through Disability Services. Faculty will receive an email notification via their ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ email account for each accommodation letter that is generated for their course(s).ÌýÌý

Faculty can also sign into AIM using their ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ IdentiKey and password. Once signed in, they will be able to review all student accommodations for each of their courses.Ìý

We encourage students and faculty to review accommodation letters together to determine how to effectively implement accommodations for each class.ÌýÌý

Faculty Expectations

Like previous semesters, students are expected to schedule a meeting with faculty to discuss their accommodations. During this meeting, they will establish a plan for how accommodations will be implemented. Make sure the agreement is clear to both of you. Faculty are expected to clarify and/or confirm testing accommodations with students prior to each exam at least (1) week in advance.Ìý

Training Opportunities

If you would like a personalized presentation for your department, please complete the presentation request form. Otherwise, you can attend one of our many workshops over the semester on how to best utilize AIM.Ìý

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Yes. Students are using the system to manage their accommodation requests, obtain accommodation letters, and check the status of upcoming exam/test scheduling.Ìý

Yes, we are asking students to send or deliver a copy in the event faculty did not receive the letter via AIM. You can always contact the listed Access Coordinator on the letter to verify their accommodations.ÌýÌý

Yes. Students were notified that the process did change in terms of obtaining their accommodation letters and providing the letters to their faculty members. Students are still expected to schedule a meeting with their faculty and confirm that an accommodation letter has been received through AIM.ÌýÌýÌý

If a student has questions about the new process, please direct them to their Access Coordinator or email our Front Office at dsinfo@colorado.edu.ÌýÌý

Faculty automatically populated in AIM if they are given the ‘Primary Instructor’ role in CU-SIS when assigned to a class. The Office of the Registrar sets this up, so you will need to work with your department to update this information directly.Ìý

We are currently working to extend access to all instructors assigned within CU-SIS. In the meantime, you can share an accommodation letter with any instructor of the course who has an educational need to know.ÌýÌý

The signing feature is for instructors to use at their own discretion. Disability Services will not be expecting signed letters, but it can be a useful feature for instructors to track those students they have met with or whose letters they have reviewed.ÌýÌý

The new system may generate duplicate accommodation letters in error; you should have received only one copy. However, some courses may receive multiple letters due to new approved accommodations. For example, if a student is approved for additional accommodations halfway through the semester, the second letter will outline those.Ìý

We have learned that recitation and lab sections may produce two accommodation letters due to them being listed as different sections from the main lecture or seminar in the course catalog.ÌýÌý

The system recognizes students as individuals and therefore an email is sent per individual, not per class. If you have several students in your class who receive accommodations through Disability Services, you will receive several separate emails. You can review a full list of students through AIM after you have received their accommodation letter.ÌýÌý

You may not have students requesting accommodations in your courses at this time. You will begin to receive email notifications from Disability Services when a student has submitted an accommodation letter to be reviewed by you.Ìý

If you are receiving email notifications for accommodation letters, please sign in as a faculty.Ìý

Due to confidential information surrounding accommodations, we cannot send accommodation letters outside of AIM. You will need to log into AIM with your CU identikey and password.Ìý

Once you have received an Accommodation Letter from a student, please follow the faculty responsibilities. The next step is to schedule a meeting with your student to review their accommodation letter and how the accommodations will be implemented in your classroom.ÌýÌý

If you have questions about implementation, you can contact the listed Access Coordinator on the letter for additional guidance.Ìý

No, AIM is not located within myCUinfo or Canvas and can only be accessed through the link on our website. However, we are working on adding AIM for future semesters.Ìý
