Bike Parking Rules

To keep campus safe, accessible and easy to navigate, follow these parking guidelines:

  • Park in designated bike racks only.
  • Bikes and scooters locked to objects, such as handrails, trees or polesÌýwill be impounded.
  • Non-electric bikes may be stored in private residence hall rooms. E-bikes, e-scooters and other micro-mobility devices that must be charged are not allowed in residence halls.
  • Indoor bike storage elsewhere on campus must be approved by the respective building manager.
  • E-scooters are not allowed in campus buildings.
  • Never park a bike or scooter in a hallway, stairwell or any public area where itÌýmay be a safety hazard or obstruction.Ìý

ÌýÌýBike Rack ImpoundsÌý

To keep parking spaces open (and to discourage theft), the CU Bike Program routinely tags apparently abandoned and/or vandalized bikes with a future-dated tag. When the date (two weeks in advance ofÌýthe date the tag was placed) passes:

  • The bike is impounded.
  • The bike is held for a minimum of 30Ìýdays before beingÌýdonated, refurbished for the annual bike sale or recycled as a last resort.

No stress—just remove the tag, and your bike won’t be taken. If your bike needs a little love, swing by a campus bike station for free repair service.Ìý
