Lawn and Garden Equipment Page

Beginning June 1, 2025, state agencies cannot use gasoline-powered push and hand-held lawn and garden equipment with an internal combustion engine smaller than 19kw (25 horsepower) from June 1 to August 31.

Beginning June 1, 2026, and by June 1 of each following year, the university must submit a report for the prior calendar year to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Air Pollution Control Division (APCD). The report must include a list of subject lawn and garden equipment that was used or might have been used from June 1 to August 31 of the previous year.

The following is an example of equipment that must be converted to electric during the summer period:

ā— Aerator

ā— Brush Cutter

ā— Chainsaw

ā— Dethatcher

ā— Edgers

ā— Generator – used for lawn and garden (NOTE: gas-powered generators only need to be reported under this regulation if the generator was used for lawn and garden purposes. This is to reduce further emissions from lawn and garden.)

ā— Hedge Trimmer

ā— Leaf Blower

ā— Power Washer

ā— Push Lawn Mower
