FRPA Transition Project
Background
In 2025, ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ launched the FRPA Transition Project as a joint initiative of the Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) and the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to modernize the platform supporting the Faculty Report of Professional Activities (FRPA). The project is focused on identifying requirements for a sustainable, efficient, and user-friendly system that better supports faculty and administrative needs. Over spring and summer 2025, a campuswide task force of faculty and staff along with a working group of OFA and OIT staff, were convened to help define key system requirements. A steering committee and RFP evaluation team are now guiding vendor selection, and faculty input will remain central throughout the process to ensure the new technology aligns with the campus community’s needs.Ìý

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The Faculty Report of Professional Activities (FRPA) facilitates the reporting of teaching, scholarly and creative work, research and professional expertise, service activities, international engagement and outreach work, and other significant contributions. This information is critical to the annual merit evaluation process for faculty, and also supports campus needs ranging from grant reporting and program reviews to media requests and online web profiles.Ìý
It is ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ only centralized process for gathering timely and consistent information directly from faculty about the full scope of their work.
We’re modernizing the Faculty Information System (FIS) to enhance efficiency and user experience, starting with the FRPA. This transition supports ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ priorities—fostering faculty success, advancing research and creative work, and aligning resources with our mission—while reducing administrative burdens and better capturing the full diversity of faculty contributions.
This initiative is led jointly by the Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) and the Office of Information Technology (OIT). A campuswide task force of faculty and staff—including representatives from the Boulder Faculty Assembly (BFA), Staff Council, schools and colleges, and research institutes—guides the effort. The task force is supported by a working group comprised of staff and faculty from OFA and OIT, and organized by a team of OIT project managers.
No, the 2025 FRPA process will continue as usual in FRPA Online. Faculty should expect no change in their reporting requirements for this cycle.
