FSAP adds more counseling staff and expands benefits
Faculty & Staff Assistance Program (FSAP)Â is thrilled to introduce two new licensed providers and an expansion of your FSAP benefits! Beginning June 1, 2026, employees will be eligible to receive up to 10 confidential counseling sessions every year (previously 7 sessions per year) at no cost. Eligible employees may request individual, couple or family therapy sessions (ages 14 years and older). In addition to counseling, FSAP offers workshops and resources designed to address the evolving needs of the campus community.Â
Meet the new counselorsÂ
Joining the FSAP team are Julie Hanna Smith, LMFT, Licensed Counselor and Couples and Families Specialist, and Shonglee Ho, LPC, MFTC, Licensed Counselor and Multicultural Specialist. Julie has a wealth of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families across a wide range of needs and life stages, and most recently operated as a school-based counselor for teenagers and their families. She has a special interest in women’s mental health throughout the lifespan, including maternal mental health, embodiment, and life transitions.Â
Shonglee specializes in supporting individuals and couples navigating anxiety, attachment wounds, conflict in relationships, emotional disconnection, identity, and multicultural and intercultural experiences. Shonglee is also passionate about helping couples uncover and rediscover healthy and caring ways to be in a relationship.Â
Increased session capÂ
Starting June 1, 2026, FSAP will increase the number of confidential counseling sessions available to faculty and staff from 7 to 10. This expansion of session allotment is in response to Chancellor Schwartz’s commitment to expanding employee mental health resources during the Chancellor’s State of the Campus in February. The opportunity for FSAP to offer more sessions per year reduces employees' financial barriers to accessing mental health care and encourages more faculty and staff to take advantage of this employee perk.Â
Why this mattersÂ
FSAP is committed to advancing its mission to promote and grow psychological well-being across campus and to support Chancellor Schwartz’s commitment to making ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ an employer of choice. Investing in people is paramount to supporting the diverse campus community and their wide range of needs, backgrounds, and lived experiences. Beginning June 1, employees will be able to receive more continuous support to strengthen their emotional well-being through caring, non-judgmental, and human support. Whether it’s navigating complex family dynamics or seeking identity-conscious care, Faculty & Staff Assistance Program is here for our campus community.
