The��David Shneer Fund for Community Programming, Public Scholarship, and the Arts��supports all aspects of Jewish Studies public programming, bringing academics��and artists to Boulder for lectures, workshops, symposia,��performances, and other offerings, and ensuring that our community of learning is precisely that—a genuine��community, in which scholars, performers, students, and members of the public can learn, think, and grow together.��The Fund��honors the memory of our beloved friend��and colleague, Professor David Shneer, z”l, who passed away in Fall 2020. One of the central beliefs animating David’s career was a commitment to building connections��between the academy and the broader world.��For him, this relationship-building was more than just one aspect of academic life among others. Rather, it stood at the heart��of his vision of what it meant to be a scholar, teacher,��and activist at a public university in the twenty-first century. To celebrate David’s memory and realize this vision, this fund has been inaugurated with a major gift from Eileen and Richard Greenberg, longstanding supporters of the Program in Jewish Studies, and close friends of David’s.
