This special event is our way of expressing our gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the success of the Center for Leadership—our students, mentors, coaches, faculty and staff, and supporters.

Together, we’ll honor our Graduating Leaders of the Year as they receive their awards and share their insights on a panel discussing the future of leadership. We are also thrilled to publicly announce our incoming Newton Leadership Fellows cohort, recognizing the outstanding students selected for this prestigious program.

We invite you to join us for a short appetizer reception—a time to connect, reflect, and celebrate the collective impact of our leadership community—followed by the awards ceremony.

The Center for Leadership at the University of Colorado Boulder is proud to announce the next chapter in one of the university’s most inspiring traditions: the Leo Hill Leadership Speaker Series returns on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, with its tenth distinguished speaker soon to be revealed.

Since its launch in 2017, the Leo Hill Leadership Speaker Series has brought world-class leaders to Boulder, sparking bold conversations and empowering the next generation of changemakers. Past speakers have included presidential adviser David Gergen, astronaut Mae Jemison, brand strategist Abigail Posner, authors Doris Kearns Goodwin and David Brooks, retired Gen. Stanley McChrystal, and CU alumna Molly Bloom, among others.

Named in honor of Leo Hill, a visionary in Colorado banking and a champion of ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ��, the series continues his legacy of leadership, service, and community impact. Hill’s contributions to the university—as vice president for business affairs, treasurer, and founding supporter of the Newton Leadership Chair Endowment—laid the foundation for this powerful platform.

Get ready for another unforgettable evening. The next speaker promises to bring fresh insight, powerful stories, and a bold vision for leadership in today’s world.

The Emerging Leadership Academy is ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� campus-wide leader development program that turns curiosity about leadership into concrete skills and résumé-ready badges. Grounded in the CFL’s leadership competency model, the program guides students through a sequenced journey of learning, observing, feedback and doing — all in as little as a single semester. This opportunity is available to all students at any point in their college career. Students are welcome to attend one, three, or all six workshops, the Academy was designed to fit into busy schedules.

Recognition & Graduation Cord

Three Core Sessions (120 min each including dinner)

Leading Self → Character · Career & Self-Development · Resilience
Leading Others → Teamwork · Communication · Inclusion
Leading Change → Critical Thinking · Innovation & Creativity · Civic Engagement

Each session blends a keynote or high-impact workshop with guided reflection, so students leave with both inspiration and an action plan.

Students who participate in the Emerging Leadership Academy are recognized for their commitment to leadership development.

Each session earns a digital recognition badge that can be added to résumés, LinkedIn profiles, and graduate school applications to showcase verified leadership experience.

Students who complete all three core workshops — Leading Self, Leading Others, and Leading Change — earn an ELA cord when they graduate, recognizing their sustained engagement and achievement across the full leadership series. Sessions may be completed across semesters.

September 14, 2026, 5-7 pm: Leading Change – Civic Engagement, workshop presented by SLICE.
October 12, 2026, 5-7 pm: TBD.
November 9, 2026, 5-7 pm: Leading Self – Character, workshop presented by Air Force ROTC.

Spring

February 8, 2027, 5-7 pm: Leading Self – Resilience, workshop presented by The Center.
March 8, 2027, 5-7 pm: Leading Others – Communication, workshop presented by CU GOLD.
April 12, 2027, 5-7 pm: Leading Change – Innovation & Creativity, workshop presented by The Center.

All sessions will be held in the Flatirons Room at the Center for Community (C4C).
