New Student Housing Application Process | Academic Year 2026-27
This process is open to first-year students for the academic year 2026-27. Applications are accepted March 2 - May 4*, 2026, for a random selection assignment process. Applications received beginning May 5, will be waitlisted until a space becomes available. *It is also possible that the May 4 deadline could be moved earlier with little to no notice, especially as we near the deadlineÌý
Students should not wait until the last minute to apply to housing as it takes 3-5 business days to access the housing application after the confirmation deposit has been paid to Admissions if the student has set up their IdentiKey security credentials. Deadlines are firm so plan accordingly and consider confirming before the end of April.Ìý
Before applying
Access to the housing application is granted after the following:Ìý
- $200 confirmation deposit has been paid to Admissions
- The IdentiKey security credentials has been confirmed
- Please note that it takes 3-5 business days after completing both before the housing application can be accessed. This should be taken into consideration for any upcoming deadlines.Ìý
Application details
- We accept applications from March 2-May 4*, 2026. All applications completed during this timeframe are equally considered and selected at random for assignment, based on eligibility and availability of preferences listed in the application.
- The application may take 30-45 minutes to complete. It also will take some research before submitting preferences.
- Submit eight eligible Living Experience preferences. We recommend diversifying your options and include at least three Traditional options in your list. If none of your options are available at the time of assignment, we will assign you to the next available Traditional option. Preferences are not guaranteed, and you may get an assignment you did not choose.
- Roommates are assigned through one of three options during the housing process:
- Request a specific roommate in the applicationÌý
Students may request a specific individual when completing the housing application.* This option does not allow students to preference residence halls; students using this option are assigned to Traditional housing options. *Students with mandatory living requirements cannot participate - Select a roommate within an assigned hallÌý
Beginning in June, students have an option to select a roommate from within their already assigned residence hall. - University Housing assigned roommateÌý
If no roommate is selected from either option above, University Housing will assign a roommate based on the student’s living preference responses in the application.
- Request a specific roommate in the applicationÌý
- ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ Disability Services reviews requests for housing and food accommodations for students with documented disability-related needs, on a case-by-case individualized basis. If you feel you require a housing or food accommodation, please submit your request to Disability Services as soon as possible and preferably as soon as you have submitted your application to University Housing. Please do not rely on your preferences in the University Housing application to ensure your needs are met. For instructions to request a housing or food accommodation, please visit CU Disability Services Housing and Food Accommodations.
- Completed applications (signed contracts and paid deposits) will be collected and randomly assigned to their preferences based on eligibility, availability of room type and living experience.
- Preferences are not guaranteed, and students are assigned to the next best Traditional Experience if the selected preferences are not available.
- Students may be assigned to temporary rooms until a permanent assignment can be identified.
- We have 30 living experiences to choose from, don’t be afraid to contact University Housing at 303-492-6673 on M-F 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. MT and Tuesdays 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. MT as we may be able to assist you in narrowing your preferences to those that are best for you.
