Olivia is a PhD candidate in the Earth Science department studying mountain snow hydrology and seasonal streamflow forecasting in the western United States. Her research focuses on understanding how variability in snowpack, precipitation phase, and landscape characteristics influences the relationship between snow and summer streamflow, using a combination of physical hydrologic modeling, remote sensing, and machine learning. Olivia holds a B.S. in Environmental Studies and Philosophy from Davidson College, where her honors thesis examined the fluvial evolution of the Linville River. She later earned an M.S. in Geology from Idaho State University, where she studied the distribution and hydrologic function of rock glaciers in central Idaho. Her broader interests include mountain water resources, snow-streamflow processes, hydrologic forecasting, and science education.
