The Nightingale Reimagined-Colette Gagliano
Multimedia 20 slide presentation
The Nightingale Reimagined is a full rebrand of Jennifer Kent's 2018 film, including new poster design, a recut trailer, and a premiere plan. The campaign shifts focus from horror and action to the film's core themes of silence, colonial violence, and tragedy.

Colette Gagliano is a videographer and graphic designer based in Boulder, Colorado whose work is rooted in the relationship between image and audience. She is drawn to the way design and moving images shape how people perceive things, and most of her work lives at the intersection of cinema and branding. Right now she is developing a rebrand marketing campaign for the film Nightingale (2018) and working on two documentary projects, one following the revival of music culture and another centered on an ENVD architectural installation.

The Nightingale Reimagined
The Nightingale Reimagined is a complete marketing rebrand of Jennifer Kent's The Nightingale (2018), including a new poster series, recut trailer, and premiere strategy. The original campaign leaned into the film's horror and action elements, which Colette felt misrepresented what the film is actually about. The rebrand reframes the audience's entry point entirely, centering the silence and weight of the film's depictions of sexual violence and colonial brutality rather than its action, which is actually quite limited in the film. The goal was to attract an audience that comes prepared to sit with something difficult rather than one expecting a conventional thriller. The poster design and trailer were built around restraint, using negative space and quiet tension to reflect the film's emotional register. The premiere plan was developed with that same audience in mind, thinking carefully about context and framing as part of the marketing itself.
