Youthful Blues is a mixed-media short film blending photography and video to capture fleeting moments of college life. Set to "Disparate Youth," this abstract collage explores how a lived moment transforms into memory, something that is fragile, flickering, and irretrievable.

Ana Gordon is an artist with some experience in video and sound production, but prefers
photography, though she also enjoys writing. She has worked on a variety of creative projects and has found an interest in non-narrative pieces. She would like to explore more abstract concepts in her creative work and perhaps challenge herself through the use of multimedia pieces. Drawing on her background in photography, video production, and writing, she aims to create works that sit at the intersection of documentation and meditation, examining how we construct personal significance from fragmented experiences.

Youthful Blues is an abstract short film built from photographs and video footage captured across college, representing the kind of moments that feel ordinary until they aren't anymore. The piece works like a scrapbook or video journal, less concerned with telling a story than with capturing a feeling, such as the strange, bittersweet awareness that a moment is already becoming a memory even as you're living it. Rhythmic editing and match cuts tie the visuals tightly to Santigold's "Disparate Youth," letting the music drive the emotional pull of the piece. Intentional blur, vibrant color grading, and slow fades between video transitions mirror how memories lose clarity over time, while heightened saturation gives the footage a luminous, almost dreamlike quality. The result is something abstract and personal, more felt than followed. Youthful Blues is about youth not as a chapter, but as something that quietly slips through your fingers.
