Research security training expands to all federal grants and contracts, safeguarding funding, research integrity
The federal government has recently introduced research security training requirements for key personnel working with federal grants and contracts. The ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ Research Security & Integrity team is strengthening campus standards to help researchers meet evolving federal requirements while protecting ongoing funding and excellence in research.
NASA is the most recent sponsor to adopt research security training requirements. Beginning August 5, NASA will require all Key Personnel and Covered Individuals named on a NASA proposal to complete research security training within 12 months prior to proposal submission.
Because this requirement already applies to most federal agencies, ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ is expanding its approach to include all Key Personnel and Covered Individuals named on any federal proposal within the same timeframe.
For USDA awards, the training requirement has expanded to include all research personnel, including students, who must also recertify annually throughout the award's period of performance.
To satisfy the requirement, employees must complete the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ Research Security Training course in SkillSoft Percipio; other certifications will not be accepted.
Full details are available on the Research Security Training webpage within the Research Security Training hub on the Research & Innovation Office website.Updates and additional resources will continue to be shared through the online hub and the bi-weekly RIO Bulletin.
