Summer 2027 STEM Research Experience dates: June 2-July 30, 2027

Note: This is NOT a residential program.Ìý

The STEM Research Experience is a seven-week summer program for high school students interested in gaining hands-on research experience alongside ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ and CU Anschutz Medical Campus researchers. Students are paired with mentors based on their interests and work on an authentic research project while participating in a weekly Research Methods Seminar.Ìý

Throughout the program, participants engage in the scientific process by reviewing literature, collecting and analyzing data, conducting experiments, and communicating findings through a scientific research poster. All participants will present their research at a culminating poster session on July 30, 2027.Ìý

Students who complete the program will earn a from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Eligibility:Ìý

• Students must be 16 years old by June 2, 2027. No exceptions will be made.Ìý

• Note: Limited scholarship funding is available to support students with financial need. Students intending to seek scholarship support must indicate so when completing their application.Ìý

Important Notes:Ìý

• This is a commuter program. Housing and residential accommodations are not provided.Ìý

• International students must provide proof of a valid visa before registration. Science Discovery cannot assist with visa applications.Ìý

• Required readings or assignments may be distributed before the program begins.Ìý

Research Placements:

Students are matched with mentors based on their interests and available research opportunities. Available research areas vary annually based on participating mentors. As such, students should be open to exploring a variety of STEM fields and research opportunities.Ìý

• Students match with CU Anschutz mentors by reviewing mentor profiles upon enrollment and indicating their preferences through an online survey.Ìý

• Students match with ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ mentors by reviewing mentor profiles in May and participating in a mentor-matching activity at orientation on June 2, 2027.Ìý

Admission is competitive and based on application review. Applicants not initially selected may be placed on a waitlist and notified if space becomes available. Admitted students have one week to confirm their spot before it is offered to a waitlisted student.Ìý

Payment is due upon acceptance. Once enrolled, participants commit to their space in the program and refunds are not available for cancellations. Please consider this when determining whether to accept a spot.ÌýÌý
