Research Faculty Representative Office Hours

As part of our ongoing efforts to hear directly from our constituents and strengthen the representation of Research Faculty voices across campus, we hold monthly virtual office hours. You’re invited to join us to share any questions, ideas, issues, or concerns you would like to bring to Staff Council’s attention. We look forward to connecting with you!

Research Faculty Committee

As a special committee of Staff Council, our aim is to strengthen outreach and communication efforts about Staff Council with Research Faculty and deepen advocacy for Research Faculty. Our committee meets on the first Wednesday of every month from 12:00–1:00 pm, and everyone is welcome to attend—we’d love to have your voice at the table.

This February, donate blood to show your love! ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� Staff Council, in partnership with our partner Vitalant, is excited to announce the February Blood Drive! Every donation can save up to three lives, directly impacting individuals facing medical emergencies, surgeries, or chronic illnesses. Join us to help ensure love flows where it’s needed most!

💡 Why Donate?

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Hospitals and medical facilities depend on voluntary donors to maintain a steady blood supply for life-saving treatments. Your donation ensures that those in critical need receive the care they deserve.

🔹 Our Goal:

We are striving to collect 60 units per day, and with your help, we can surpass this goal and make a lasting impact in our community. Please share and encourage others to donate blood and support those in our local community.

🔹 How to Prepare:

Review Basic Eligibility Requirements
Eat a nutritious meal and stay hydrated before your donation
Bring a valid photo ID
Get a good night's sleep the night before

Staff Council is committed to inclusivity and understands that some may not be eligible to donate. We invite all to be involved in other ways. The Staff Council Blood Drive and Community Service Committee meets the third Tuesday of every month from 10-11am via zoom. We’d love to have you join us!

President’s Inclusive Excellence Awards

We are proud to announce that the nomination period for the President’s Inclusive Excellence Awards is open. These awards honor individuals and one unit from across the University of Colorado who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and made significant contributions to building an environment where everyone can thrive. Recipients of this honor receive $2,000 and a commemorative award.

Applications for the President’s Inclusive Excellence Grants are being accepted with a December 12, 2025, 5:00pm deadline. The President's Inclusive Excellence Grants support innovative and creative initiatives that create a supportive and welcoming environment for all members of the university. Grant funding is for one year with a maximum request of $8,000.

Eligibility: Grant proposals must be submitted by CU full-time faculty* or full-time staff. Students or student groups interested in submitting a proposal need to have a faculty or staff sponsor submit the proposal and include a letter of support.

Review upcoming dates for mobile food pantries

The Basic Needs Center’s mobile food pantries are free and open to ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� students, faculty and staff, as well as community members of Boulder and Broomfield counties. Attendees may receive up to 30 pounds of food in multiple boxes.

Reminder: UMC construction project to take place spring, summer 2026

Upcoming construction will improve the HVAC system, Campus Dining & Hospitality loading dock, and the pavement between the University Memorial Center and CASE buildings. Many of the UMC’s dining locations will be closed during the construction. However, food will be available at The Connection and UMC Market in the building, and at the Roaming Ralphie food trailer nearby at the UClub.

Student Employee of the Year nominations open soon

The 2026 ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� Student Employee of the Year nominations will open Jan. 5!

Each spring, this award recognizes exceptional student employees for their dedication and achievements. It is affiliated with the National Student Employment Association (NSEA) and has been a tradition at ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� for over 25 years. Nominees and nominators are celebrated at an April luncheon, and campus winners are submitted to NSEA for national recognition.

Co-facilitated by Sonia DeLuca Fernández, senior vice chancellor for leadership support and programming, and Jon Leslie, vice chancellor for strategic communications, the project will begin to engage campus leadership and shared governance groups in November. Join us for the ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� Blood Drive, happening Tuesday, November 11 through Thursday, November 13, in proud partnership with our longtime partner, Vitalant. As we head into the season of giving, what better way to show your gratitude than by giving the gift of life?

Appointments are strongly recommended but walk-ins are welcome. Let’s show what Buffs can do when we give from the heart. Please see the below appointment links for November.

At our last blood drive, we hit our goal of collecting 55 units each day- now let’s aim even higher! Join the ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� community in going above and beyond to make an even greater difference. Every donation can help save up to three lives, and your generosity could make all the difference for patients in need over the holidays.
