Sandy Jones named dean of students

Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Christina Gonzales has namedÌýSandy JonesÌýas the dean of students. Jones began with the Division of Student Affairs on Aug. 20.

Jones comes to CUÌýBoulder fromÌýtheÌýUniversity of California, Irvine (UCI), where she most recently served as the director of community and local government relations.ÌýPreviously, she heldÌýseveral student affairs leadership roles at UCI that included advisement of undergraduate and graduate student governments, student media and student organizations.Ìý

"With Sandy’s wide-ranging experience in higher education, including theÌýoversight of student activities, studentÌýgovernment andÌýherÌýleadership in crisis communication and government relations, I look forward to her joining the division and bringing a new perspective on how we can best support students,â€� said Gonzales

JonesÌýlooks forward to workingÌýwith the student affairs leadership team and collaborating with campus partners to develop innovative new programs that both enhance the student experience and support CU's mission to educate the next generation of citizens and leaders.

“I amÌýexcited andÌýhonoredÌýto be a part of the CUÌýBoulder community,â€� saidÌýJones. “IÌýam eager toÌýmeetÌýand begin collaborating withÌýstudents, staff, faculty andÌýadministratorsÌýto help create a campus environment that is supportive, engaging and inclusive to all students.â€�

Jones received aÌýbachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California,ÌýLos Angeles; a master’s degree in educationÌýin postsecondary administration and student affairs from the University of Southern California; and aÌýdoctorate in higher education administration and policy from the University of California, Riverside, where sheÌýwas recognizedÌýasÌýa Chancellor’s Distinguished Fellow.
