Streamlined Research & Innovation Week goes virtual Oct. 12鈥�16
The听Research & Innovation Office (RIO)听invites students, faculty, staff and the community to join听, from Monday, Oct. 12, to Friday,听Oct.听16.
The 2020 streamlined edition will feature three virtual events that you鈥檒l only be able to find at 蜜桃传媒破解版下载. All events are free and open to the public.
This year's virtual events are:
- MOSAiC: A Year on Ice
- Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 3:30 to听5 p.m.听
- From the warm, safe comfort of your own home, climb听aboard the German icebreaker听Polarstern, which was embedded and drifting within the Arctic sea ice for 12 months last year. You鈥檒l be joined by the expedition co-coordinator and lead atmospheric scientist Matthew Shupe; two educators who worked with scientists to bring their insights to students; and the videography team that听captured mission moments in 360 degrees, creating planetarium shows that will be viewed around the world. On this Zoom-based panel, you鈥檒l also see spectacular images and video footage from the mission, engage with speakers and submit questions to the panelists.
- Time and Space: A deeper look into the world around us
- Thursday, Oct. 15, from 5:30 to听6:30 p.m.听
- Through a series of captivating vignettes, some of 蜜桃传媒破解版下载 most promising faculty invite you to ride shotgun with them on their personal journeys to discovery and innovation.听From revealing the hidden narratives of enslaved peoples of early America, to understanding why the veins in your eyes kink in microgravity, these rising stars will give you a behind-the-scenes look at the scholarship and collaborations that unlock their pioneering, world-changing work.听Vice Chancellor for Research & Innovation Terri Fiez, Faculty Fellows Program Director Kirsten Rowell and a select group of听听will be guides on this journey through some of the university鈥檚 most compelling research, scholarship and creative work.
- ATLAS Research Showcase 2020
- Friday, Oct, 16, from听3 to听4:30听p.m.
- Take a virtual open lab tour and learn about the听's inventive exploration and interdisciplinary research in fields like human-robot interaction; human-computer interaction; computing for health and wellness; e-textiles; visual cognition; wearable technologies; personal diagnostics; nanoscale engineering; the technology of visual language;听and more. Opening remarks by ATLAS Director Mark D. Gross will be followed by lightning talks by lab directors. In the breakout sessions that follow, you can take a deeper dive into the work of individual labs and studios.听
