If you are a supervisor, join this series of trainings to celebrate minds of all kinds. The Neurodiversity in the Workplace trainings will highlight practical tools and knowledge for supervisors to better understand and support their neurodivergent employees.

Not familiar with this term? Neurodiversity is a term used to acknowledge the natural differences in the brain function and behavioral traits among humans. Not sure if you have neurodiverse employees? Odds are you do, with 15–20% of the world’s population identifying as neurodiverse.

The four virtual sessions will underscore the importance of creating an inclusive and equitable workplace where everyone can thrive. 

The series is organized by the Alliance for Neurodiversity employee affinity group—which aims to raise awareness, ensure compliance with employee workplace accommodations, build effective leadership skills and enhance productivity. The trainings will be facilitated by DIRT (Divergent Inclusive Representation Transforms) Coffee, a nonprofit social enterprise that “creates innovation human-centered workspaces and programs that promote disability justice and economic equity.”

The virtual series will kick off on Wednesday, Oct. 8, with the remainder of sessions held on Mondays. Sign up today to learn practical ways to lead with inclusion and support neurodiverse talent!  Registration is required.

Do you still need some convincing? Haruko Greeson attended the spring session and mentioned it "provided great insight into neurodiversity."

"One of the most impactful activities was the 'Fold Your Paper' exercise, as this reinforced the importance of clear, collaborative communication between supervisors and staff," Greeson said. "Rather than simply 'assigning' tasks, it is crucial to work together in a way that fosters understanding and comfort."

This series is organized by the Alliance for Neurodiversity (AND) employee affinity group and funded by the Arts & Sciences Dean’s Innovation Award and the Impact Grant.

��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� ongoing series on federal governance will continue to bring faculty, staff, students and the public together for programs exploring where higher education finds itself more than half a year into the second Trump administration.

The series began last spring under the title, “Understanding Federal Governance: Institutions, Civics, Impact,” with two panel discussions that examined the boundaries of executive authority and how universities both shape and are shaped by national politics. A third spring event, “Academic Freedom at CU and Beyond,” featured former Provost Russell Moore and Vice Chancellor for Faculty Affairs Michele Moses, who offered reflections on academic freedom in the context of shifting political and legal landscapes, federal policy debates and the responsibilities of institutions of higher education.

Building on these events, this year’s series will explore what the future looks like for higher education in the U.S. and how faculty, staff and students are partnering across institutional and disciplinary lines to shape that future. Carrying the name “Federal Governance and Higher Education: Where Are We and Where Are We Going?”, the series will continue with two new opportunities for engagement this fall:

The 'Big Beautiful Bill' and Beyond—Federal Legislation and Higher Education

Open to all, this virtual event explores the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” and its implications for higher education, alongside other federal policies on research funding, immigration and more.

Collective Action and Higher Education: Prospects and Perils

The panel includes Heather Bené, associate vice president of research and federal policy, Office of Government Relations; Oded Gurantz, associate professor and chair of research and evaluation methodology program, School of Education; Amy Hutton, vice chancellor for enrollment management; and Massimo Ruzzene, senior vice chancellor and dean of the institutes, Research and Innovation Office.

Registration for this Zoom webinar session is required.

Collective Action and Higher Education: Prospects and Perils

Open to ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� faculty, staff and students, this in-person discussion explores how universities and national associations such as the Association of American Universities (AAU) and the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities (APLU) are responding to a rapidly shifting federal policy landscape—from immigration to research funding to admissions.

��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� experts will discuss prospects for collective action across higher education and how differing approaches shape the challenges and opportunities ahead. Featured panelists include Danielle Radovich Piper, senior vice president for external relations and and strategy, Office of the President; Ann Stevens, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs; and David Meens, executive director, Office for Public and Community-Engaged Scholarship.

“The continuation of this series highlights ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� role as Colorado’s leading public research university and our commitment to advancing knowledge and civic dialogue,” said Stevens. “By educating our community and sharing expertise on federal policy developments and academic freedom and by collaborating with peer institutions and others on these issues, we contribute not only to our academic mission but to the strength of our democracy.”

For academic year 2025–26, the series is co-sponsored by the Division of Academic Affairs, the Office of Faculty Affairs, the Office for Public and Community-Engaged Scholarship, the Boulder Faculty Assembly (BFA), and Strategic Relations and Communications. Public-facing programs are also presented in association with ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� Conference on World Affairs.

Additional events, including recorded whiteboard sessions, are being planned to continue the conversation.

Now entering its fourth year, the Course Design Series (CDS) returns with a new lineup of research-informed sessions and presenters offering practical strategies to support teaching across disciplines and modalities.

Topics for 2025–26 include: teaching AI literacy in the classroom, designing authentic assessments, understanding how student needs have changed, making the most of updates in Canvas and many more.

CDS sessions are designed to help faculty respond to evolving student needs, emerging technologies and changes in learning environments. Hosted by the Learning Design Group in Continuing Education, this year’s sessions feature experts from the Office of Information Technology (OIT), the Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) and the Academic Learning Initiative (ALI), as well as faculty and students from across campus.

Sessions are held the first Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. MT on Zoom and are open to all ��Ҵ�ý�ƽ�� faculty. No registration is required, and recordings are available after each session.
