​Seedling Biosystems is a Boulder-based biotechnology startup pioneering sustainable, plant-based production of rare and essential biological ingredients used in foods, cosmetics and therapeutics. Co-founded by Ìý(ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ÆÆ½â°æÏÂÔØ Department of Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology), former student Ìý(alum, ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ÆÆ½â°æÏÂÔØ Chemical and Biological Engineering) and Ìý(alum, ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ÆÆ½â°æÏÂÔØ Biochemistry) the company emerged from collaborative research efforts at the university. Their innovative platform leverages genetically engineered soybeans to produce compounds traditionally sourced from environmentally sensitive origins, such as shark-derived squalene and yew tree-derived paclitaxel, aiming to reduce ecological impact and enhance accessibility.
