A collaboration between the University of Colorado Boulder School of Education and Northeast Colorado Board of Cooperative Educational Services has received a new grant from the Colorado Department of Higher Education that bolsters collaborative efforts to create a more sustainable teacher force in Northeast Colorado. 

As a community of educators, researchers, staff and students, we affirm our support and love for our transgender and gender nonbinary students, friends, colleagues, and family members. Here are a few ways that you can join us in fighting against trans erasure by increasing support and visibility of trans people in particular. 

The American Physical Society, a "leading voice in physics,” will honor ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������ scientists and educators as part of its spring 2019 awards. The Excellence in Physics Education Award will recognize an interdisciplinary ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������ team for their work with the Colorado Learning Assistant Program and the Learning Assistance Alliance, an international initiative based in the School of Education. Congrats to Valerie Otero, Laurie Langdon, and team.

Two national organizations have awarded a grant that will deepen and advance our partnership between Denver Public Schools, ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������, CU Denver and Rowan University. Professor Ben Kirshner is one of the Principal Investigators on the project that received a $1.4 million grant from the Hewlett Foundation and Jobs for the Future to expand the Student Voice and Leadership Program.

Led by School of Education doctoral students Molly Hamm-Rodriguez and Astrid Sambolín Morales, a new report found that K-12 students who fled Puerto Rico for the mainland face waves of continued issues, including housing instability, language barriers and culture shock one year after Hurricane Maria decimated the island. 

The ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������ School of Education hosted its inaugural Ed Talks in May at the Dairy Arts Center. These presentations led by ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������ education professors explored topics such as teacher walkouts, hate speech on college campuses, distrust in education, and more. With poetry, self-reflection, dialogue and community-building, more than 130 educators from 15 school districts gathered at Boulder’s Casey Middle School for the state’s first LGBTQ-Inclusive Educational Practices Institute over the summer.

At the 2018 Best Should Teach Lecture and Awards Ceremony, ���Ҵ�ý�ƽ������ will celebrate excellence in education by recognizing five faculty members, three K-12 teachers in local school districts and many graduate student teachers with awards.

A Queer Endeavor co-founders Bethy Leonardi and Sara Staley were featured in the NBC Out #Pride30 series. The #Pride30 series honored 30 change makers and rising stars of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community.
