Staff Awards and Excellence
The Staff Excellence Program was formed in 2009 based on recommendations made as part of strategic planning. These recommendations included staff growth, training, engagement, and recognition, as well as improved efficiency of administrative processes. Listed below are several opportunities for staff to help meet these recommendations.

Commitment to Excellence Award
The Commitment to Excellence Award was established to recognize employees at their five-year anniversary with the College of Engineering and Applied Science. University staff and Classified staff with appointments of at least 50% time will receive this award for every five years of continuous service with the College. The award includes $400 and a glass plaque on a bronze buffalo stand.

Employee Recognition Award
The Employee Recognition Award provides an opportunity for each unit of the College to recognize outstanding University and Classified staff. Each unit has an opportunity to honor up to two staff members each academic year during the unit’s designated month with an award of $500. Designated months are specified in the table below, and CEAS HR will notify units the month prior. Awards are funded by the designated units.Ìý

Staff Incentive Award
The Staff Incentive Award recognizes University and Classified staff for their innovative ideas, creativity or exemplary performance. This is a monetary award of $100 to $500. The amount is determined and funded by the nominating unit. Nominations may be submitted at any time via a short email toÌýceashr@colorado.edu, including a brief nomination justification, award amount, and a SpeedType to pay for the award.ÌýÌý

College of Engineering Outstanding Staff Award
The College of Engineering Outstanding Staff Award recognizes a staff member who has made outstanding contributions that benefit the students, staff and faculty of a CEAS department, program, or the College overall. As many as three staff may be selected for this honor each year. The award is presented annually, and the winner receives a stipend of $2,000, funded by the College.Ìý

College of Engineering and Applied Science Student Support Professional Awards
The Student Support Professional Awards recognize college staff who assist our undergraduate and graduate students throughout their educational journeys. Eligible staff include undergraduate or graduate program administrators; academic advisors for majors and minors; academic success staff; career advisors; academic coaches; scholarship advisors; Campos Center staff; Career Hub staff; Engineering Connections staff; Integrated Teaching & Learning Program staff; Colorado Space Grant Consortium staff; Dean’s Office, department or program staff; and many more roles that support students.

In addition to these awards, several departments and programs have established unit-specific staff awards to honor their employees.Ìý

Engineering Staff Professional Development Funds
University and Classified staff employed in the College may apply for funding to be used for costs related to the development of their professional skills. Funds may be used for, but are not limited to, educational tuition and fees, training, workshops, conferences, professional memberships and certifications. The request may be directly related to the employee’s current position or may provide professional development for career advancement. All requests should align with ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ÆÆ½â°æÏÂÔØ strategic emphasis on leadership, innovation, and positive impact. Ìý
Up to $500 in funding per staff member is available on a first-come, first-served basis for each fiscal year. A 1:1 or greater cost-share is expected from the staff member’s unit.Ìý
Staff members should discuss the request and cost-share requirement with their supervisors before applying; procedures may vary across units. Requests for Engineering Staff Professional Development Funds may be submitted at any time. Ìý
Requests for funds are approved by CEAS HR and funds are transferred monthly. A Fund 10 SpeedType must be provided at the time of application; out of pocket expenses must be submitted through Concur and processed through the employee’s unit.Ìý
