The JILA Physics Frontier Center (JILA PFC)Ìýis sponsored by the NSF (National Science Foundation)ÌýPhysics Frontiers Centers (PFC) program which supports university-based centers and institutes where the collective efforts of a larger group of individuals can enable transformational advances in the most promising research areas. .
The JILA PFCÌýbrings together 20 investigators in collaboration to share goals, ideas, expertise and technology in their aim to realize precise measurement, innovative manipulation, and harvesting ever-more intriguing meaning, all in the world of complex Ìýquantum systems.
The scientific vision of the JILA PFC is to develop and advance our capability to harness light-matter interactions and gain control over a large set of diverse quantum systems. This will allow us to shed light on open questions in many-body physics relevant to a broad class of disciplines ranging from atomic, molecular and optical physics, to condensed matter, to chemistry and biology which will enable us to unravel the fundamental laws that rule our universe.

Physics Frontiers Centers (PFCs)
The Physics Frontiers Centers (PFC) program supports university-based centers and institutes where the collective efforts of a larger group of individuals can enable transformational advances in the most promising research areas. The program is designed to foster major breakthroughs at the intellectual frontiers of physics by providing needed resources such as combinations of talents, skills, disciplines, and/or specialized infrastructure, not usually available to individual investigators or small groups, in an environment in which the collective efforts of the larger group can be shown to be seminal to promoting significant progress in the science and the education of students. PFCs also include creative, substantive activities aimed at enhancing education, broadening participation of traditionally underrepresented groups, and outreach to the scientific community and general public.Ìý.
