How to enroll in three easy steps!

Step 1—Registration: Register through your my.cu dashboard for the appropriate year level and the instrument type that you play (e.g., if you play a wind instrument, even if you are planning to play with a group of string players, you should register for wind chamber music at your appropriate year level).

All students must enroll in the course for credit unless they have been granted an exception by the Chamber Music Coordinator

Step 2—Request forms: Every student must have their name on one form (one per group form, one per individual form). Request forms must be submitted by the deadline each semester.

• If you plan to enroll as an individual and want the faculty to assist in placing you in a group, fill out the Individual Request Form. Note: While every effort will be made to place everyone in a group, it is not guaranteed that we will be able to find groups for everyone. If this is the case, you will be notified prior to the drop deadline.
• If you plan to enroll with a pre-formed group, each group should submit one Pre-formed Group Request Form. Note: Depending on enrollment numbers, it may be the case that pre-formed groups might need to be switched around. If this happens, your group will be notified prior to the drop deadline.

Step 3—Canvas course:��Make sure you self-enroll in the Canvas course. If you have enrolled in this course in previous semesters, there is no need to do so again. You only need to self-enroll if you do not see it appearing on your Canvas dashboard. Note: This enrollment is separate��from your actual course enrollment for course credit. You will need to do both.

With your enrollment form (see Step 2, Enrollment section), please submit a recent video of two contrasting works that best represent your playing. Auditions for chamber music are for the faculty to get an idea of your playing style, aesthetic and level, and are used to place you in an appropriately matched chamber group for the semester.

• Students who need degree credit for graduation this academic year will be given priority in group formation.
• Any chamber work is permitted, but will be subject to approval by the faculty. If you have a specific repertoire request, please include it on your enrollment request form.
• Students may only participate in one chamber group for the course.

• Every chamber group will receive one hour-long coaching session with their assigned faculty coach each week starting in the third week of classes.
• Every group is expected to rehearse for at least three hours each week outside of their regularly scheduled weekly coaching.
• All group members must be present for all coachings and regularly scheduled rehearsals.
• Every group will be required to perform on one Chamber Music Showcase concert (or equivalent) during the semester. Showcase dates are published at the start of each semester.
• Groups will also have the option to perform for Chamber Music performance classes, master classes and community engagement opportunities throughout the semester.

• All groups will receive in-person instruction and have in-person rehearsals, coachings and performances where all members must be present.
• All groups will have weekly rehearsals/meetings and coaching sessions.
• Chamber music rehearsal spaces may be reserved until the end of Week 2 by contacting Scheduling Manager Kayla Pierce. These spaces may also be used for coachings, if needed. After Week 2, all unused spaces will be released and enrolled chamber groups will no longer have priority in reservations.��

The Honors Chamber Ensemble Program is open to any chamber ensemble participating in the Chamber Music Course in the fall semester. This program is designed for groups that are especially serious about chamber music and would like to stay together in more intensive study for the spring semester. Chamber ensembles that are selected for the program will be featured in prominent performances and community engagement concerts in the spring semester.

��Groups are selected by audition for the Honors Chamber Ensemble Program at the end of the fall semester. Chamber ensembles are eligible to audition if they will be continuing (with the same ensemble and group members) in Chamber Music for the spring semester, and must be available for all published Honors Chamber Ensemble performance and community engagement dates.

Students who are preparing chamber works for their recitals are welcome, but not required, to participate in the course. Students should consult their faculty advisor to decide on repertoire and personnel for chamber recitals. Students are responsible (in conjunction with their faculty advisor) for finding personnel for their recitals. Students looking for assistance with personnel for recitals must be in touch with the Chamber Music Coordinator at least nine (9) weeks in advance, and preferably at the start of the semester. If the chamber group will be participating in the course, all members must complete all the course requirements and must submit the Pre-formed Group Request Form at the start of the semester.

��In consultation with their faculty advisor, students are responsible for coordinating and organizing all aspects of their chamber music recital with their collaborators—including but not limited to personnel, repertoire, scheduling, room bookings, rehearsals and recordings.
