PLC Service & Engagement

It is up to each PLC student to take the steps necessary to elevate a greater societal purpose above individual achievement, accruing titles, and beyond the boundaries of personal privilege. In PLC, active engagement and service are not the tally of hours to put on a resume, but mindsets and lifestyles. The Service Fellows empower PLCers to create positive change through investments of time, talent, and energy, emphasizing the importance of diverse perspectives and reflection. The Service Fellows empower PLCers to explore the continuous process of learning, serving, and reflecting by consistently providing various opportunities to serve throughout the PLC, ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ, and Colorado communities.

Program Requirement

  • 5 approved service hours per year in PLC
  • 5 engagement hours per year in PLC
  • 5 service to PLC hours each year for FLEXD members

Service Awards

Given our strong commitment to service as a program, we highly encourage students to earn more than the minimum required hours listed above. The following award tiers have been established for those PLCers who are not only committed to the program, but demonstrate this commitment through true servant-leadership.
Students who:
  • GOLD: Earn 60+ service hours each year they are PLC receive a medal at graduation + digital recognition badge
  • SILVER: Earn 40+ service hours each year they are in PLC receive a cord at graduation + digital recognition badge
  • BRONZE: Earn 20+ service hours each year receive a digital recognition badge

Service opportunities are transformative allowing PLCers to reflect on their positionality in the community. Public service, exposes PLCers to intercultural perspectives helping to create leaders who understand real community needs through critical thought, applied leadership skills, and civic responsibility.   • Garden to Table, PB n’Ìý Luvin, Meals on the Streets, Meals at All Roads Shelter, STEM mentors, As You Are Facilitators, other outside service endeavors (with signed approval)
Engagement Hours - 5 hours

Engagement opportunities are hands-on experiences that promote career readiness, cultural awareness, ethical engagement, interpersonal growth, and reflection. Engagement hours will be logged by the team lead of the team that put on the event. Please find the

Service to PLC

Service to PLC is essential for all PLCers. It is important that students give back to the program that gives us so much. While service to PLC hours are only required for FLEXD members, service to PLC opportunities can be used as engagement hours for other PLCers.Ìý
