Enable Transformative Learning

The University of Colorado Boulder has an expansive history of engaging undergraduates in the dynamic research and creative life of the campus dating to the creation of UROP in 1986.

UROP enables transformative education that makes the most of ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ global leadership in research and creative production. Our campus hosts many programs for undergraduate research, but the UROP is the only program open to all fields of study. Housed in the Office of Undergraduate Education, UROP collaborates throughout the campus ecosystem, supporting student success in partnership with colleges, departments, programs, and other units.

Student Testimonials

ÌýUROP was so helpful, and I truly couldn't have had this experience without their financial help. My research position was unpaid, so having funding from UROP gave me the opportunity to be able to carry out the project in another country—and enjoy my experience while there! - Sophie Castillo

ÌýI am so excited to have had this opportunity and really appreciate the doors it has opened for me. It’s not just about the research but also about networking with great minds in a field you are interested in—while bridging the gap between coursework and real-world applications. - Cassidy Bliss

ÌýMy mentor was extremely helpful with engaging me throughout the semester and made sure that I was able to learn. His approach is more hands-off, which lets me learn as I did more things, but if there were more complex issues, he would offer advice. - Gianni Bonnici

Mentor Testimonials

ÌýMy lab has had the pleasure to work with multiple undergraduates throughout the summer—made possible by UROP funding. This was not only invaluable for the mentees to gain hands-on experience, but it also gave myself and others the opportunity to mentoring skills.Ìý- Aaron Whiteley

ÌýThe Team Grant allowed the undergraduates to become independent in the laboratory and take ownership on several projects. These were their first experiences in a laboratory. Both undergraduates will receive co-authorship on conference presentations and manuscripts. - Michael Baratta

ÌýThis is the second UROP project I've been able to supervise, and it was a fantastic opportunity. I can say without a doubt that the project would have been limited without UROP funding. I’m thankful and hope UROP is able to continue to support our students in this way.Ìý- Pat Clark
