Do you love listening to music? Are you curious about how your favorite music affects your brain? The Brain Music Lab at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ is currently recruiting participants for a research study, Neural Mechanisms of Music Appreciation (ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ IRB #25-0777), investigating favorite music listening and brain activity in young adults.Ìý

The total expected time commitment is approximately 4.5 hours. Research activities will take place over several weeks, according to your availability and the researchers’ availability. Participating in this study involves:Ìý

1. Completing an online survey (30 minutes)Ìý
2. One in-person visit to the Brain Music Lab (Roser ATLAS building) on ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ Main Campus (90 minutes)Ìý
3. A practice MRI session (30 minutes), online survey (30 minutes) and an MRI scan (90 minutes) at the Center for Innovation & Creativity (CINC), located just east of ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ Main Campus

Even if you enroll in this study, you may not qualify for all of these research activities. Individuals who complete parts one and two will be compensated with a $20 Amazon gift certificate. Individuals who also complete part three will be compensated with an additional $20 Amazon gift certificate, plus an image of their brain.Ìý

Eligibility

Eligible individuals must:

• 18–25 years old
• Be native English speakers
• Have little-to-no musical training
• Be able to undergo MRI (see specific MRI requirements; not pregnant)
• Be right-handed
• Have normal, or corrected-to-normal, hearing and vision
• Have no music processing-related disordersÌý
• Have no recent psychiatric diagnoses, and not recently taken psychiatric medications (within six months)Ìý
• Be able to attend in-person sessions at the ATLAS Institute on ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Æƽâ°æÏÂÔØ Main Campus, as well as at the Center for Innovation and Creativity (CINC)

Before the fall semester begins, Buff Bus riders will see improvements at two bus stops near the Colorado Avenue and Folsom Street intersection.Ìý

These stops are being upgraded to floating bus stops, a design that helps improve safety and keeps buses moving efficiently. With this new layout, the bike lane runs between the bus stop platform and the sidewalk, creating clearer spaces for riders, cyclists and buses.Ìý

What this means for riders

• More predictable and efficient bus arrivals and departuresÌý
• Improved safety for people boarding and exiting the busÌý
• Reduced delays caused by traffic and vehicles passing busesÌý
• More reliable service during winter weather when buses can remain in the travel laneÌý

The new floating bus stops will serve:Ìý

• Westbound: Stampede and HOP routesÌý
• Eastbound: Stampede and Will Vill routesÌý

These improvements are part of ongoing efforts to make campus transit safer, more reliable and more comfortable for Buff Bus riders and the broader campus community.

Apply for the Critical Dialogic Pedagogy Micro-Credential Program, a 10-session workshop series grounded in critical dialogic pedagogy, somatic reflection and intersectional equity practices. The program is funded by an IMPACT grant and co-sponsored by the Center for Teaching & Learning and School of Education. Earn $25 per hour (up to approximately $400 total) for up to three study session phases (one hour and 45 minutes). Must be 18–25 years, be able to attend in-person sessions and have a personal history of bipolar disorder or no mental health history.

• Have used cannabis for at least one year

This study involves:Ìý

• One appointment at our lab facility in Boulder
• Two appointments in our mobile lab (we drive to a location convenient to you)
