Technology Domains
Researchers in RASEI bring together a multidisciplinary collection perspectives, approaches, and skillsets. All are being used to address challenges associated with developing a modern, clean, and resilient energy economy. The RASEI community brings together social scientists, business experts, physical scientists and engineers. We have termed this collection of approaches and skills RASEI's Technology Domains.
These Technology Domains represent the core disciplinary strengths and methodological approaches within RASEI. Rather than working in isolation, these domains are designed to complement and reinforce one another, enabling our teams to tackle energy challenges from multiple angles simultaneously. This integrated framework is essential because energy challenges are inherently cross-cutting, they involve technical performance, economic viability, scalability of manufacturing, and practical implementation in real-world settings. Solutions that work in the laboratory may fail in the marketplace without consideration of cost, policy, and user adoption. By organizing our work around Technology Domains that actively collaborate, we ensure that promising innovations are developed with these multiple dimensions in mind from the outset.
By working together we interweave these approaches, leveraging our range of skills to amplify the significance of our work in different Impact Areas. Experimentalists working with theoreticians. Physical scientists integrating insights from economists and social scientists into the design of new devices. By working together our teams build a holistic approach to solving problems based on a systems-level understanding of the challenges associated with developing a modern, more affordable and sustainable energy economy.Ìý
